This is a long time coming review. I stopped here in late spring before everything really got popping out East. I was working out in east hampton and after work I decided to treat myself and head out to Montauk for relaxation and lunch.
I been hearing about this place basically my whole life and finally got the opportunity to check it out. It was a beautiful early spring day and looks like they were just opening for the season. Cleaning off the plastic tables and chair trying to get enough ready for the line that was building. I was waiting on line til I noticed you can sit at the counter and there was one lonely seat waiting for me. I sat down and was given a menu and she took my drink order , which I got a nice cold corona. Then I placed my order for the famous hot lobster roll and French fries. This thing came out and there was about a whole lobsters worth of meat on it and it was absolutely delicious, the fries were really good too. It definitely lives up to the hype.
I would definitely recommend this place if you're out on the east end, I will definitely be back again. But beware that it's definitely gonna hit the wallet hard. -

Fun place to visit. Fresh sea food and good clam chowder.

Anytime I head out east towards Montauk, this place is a MUST for lunch... get it? Lunch? Anyways.
Every time I've been here, our order has always been simple. You have to go for the classics, right?
I am a HUGE fan for the warm lobster roll and yes the fries are a must-have. My boyfriend enjoys the classic salad lobster roll, but last time we came he switched over to the best side for a classic roll. The fried clams are also great, and when they have fried pufferfish (GET THEM). They were out last time, and it was truly a modern-day tragedy.
Pro tip: get fries and just share them, you'll get full on the rest of your meal but someone in your party has to say yes to fries.
This place is well worth the wait, and I highly recommend! -

Awesome! Love the chowders: lobster bisque and New England clam. Both were so tasty and generous portions too! We enjoyed the warm lobster rolls... a lot of lobster served warm in butter with roll on the side (in case you don't want to fill up on bread). The service was terrific and friendly. The atmosphere just what you expect for a road side drive up. No wonder the place is hopping... so worth it! Definitely coming back.

Stopped into The Lobster Roll with a group of 7 on a Saturday night around 6:30pm in September. It's a casual diner-style restaurant with quick service and solid seafood options. You eat here if you want lobster rolls (obviously), fried oysters, shrimp, and standard fish fare. There are some non-seafood options but nothing expansive.
I ordered the fried oyster pub-style sandwich with a side of fries and coleslaw for $18. At the time, market prices for lobster rolls were about $30... so I opted for something different since I'm not huge on lobster. I am however big on oysters, and this sandwich was tasty. The fries were also hot and crunchy, and the coleslaw was surprisingly good (and not just a jar of mayonnaise). Everyone else in my group opted for the lobster rolls, crab cakes, fried shrimp, and seemed to enjoy theirs as well. It's a restaurant near East Hampton so expect steeper prices.
Our servers were snappy and made sure we had everything we needed. By the time we were leaving, there was a large line of people waiting to be seated, included bachelorettes. There is a lot of seating outside, but the mosquitos were bad so nearly everyone wanted to sit inside. If you want to avoid waiting, go early.
I'd be down to come back next time I'm in the area and *actually* try the lobster roll.
